Grand Theft Auto V drops you into Los Santos - a sprawling fictional city built on excess, crime, and chaos. Play as three interconnected protagonists across a story that shifts between heists, betrayals, and dark humour. Online, the same city opens up for persistent free roam, co-op missions, heists, and player-driven mayhem with friends. It's one of the most content-rich multiplayer games available on PC.
How we play
At Checkpoint, GTA V sessions are almost always in GTA Online - the shared open world where we can cause chaos together or run structured missions as a crew. We rotate between heists, contact missions, and free roam depending on the mood of the session. The game is best played with a mic, since coordinating a heist without comms is an exercise in frustration.
Newer players are always paired with someone who knows the ropes. GTA Online's economy and menus can be a bit overwhelming at first, but after one session you'll have a solid feel for how it works. We try to avoid griefer lobbies by using invite-only or friend sessions, which keeps things enjoyable for everyone in the group.
Getting started with GTA V
GTA V is available on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam. You'll need a Rockstar Social Club account to play online. The game frequently goes on sale for a few dollars, and occasionally goes free for a limited time, so it's worth keeping an eye out if you don't own it yet.
Once you're in GTA Online, the game starts you in free roam with a basic apartment and a small amount of starting cash. Don't worry about grinding for the best gear before your first session - we'll help you earn money efficiently and point you toward the missions and heists worth doing. The social side of GTA Online is what makes it worthwhile, and that's what Checkpoint focuses on.
